Where In Canada Is Sister Cecily?

Sister Cecily a homemade traveling Member of the Manning Lodge #79.  She was sent out to meet more of her sisters all over Canada for five years.  The Manning Lodge hopes she can make it home to celebrate their 50th Anniversary in 2012.

Sister Cecily was born into the Manning Lodge on March 31, 2007.
Her Mom, Sharon Fowler, made her as a door prize for the Annual District 14 meeting.  Plus this was a special day because her Lodge turned 45 years old.

She was stitched from new but she was made to be a true sister of the Royal Purple when her mom made her regalia from recycled pieces.
It was District Deputy Lady Corrine White who introduced Sister Cecily not only as a door prize but as a traveling member of the Royal Purple.
Yes, Sister Cecily was raffled off but not with intention to give her away but as a means to get her started on her travels.
Sister Cecily was set off to travel Canada from lodge to lodge.  Her hopes were to gather as many lodge pins as possible.
She left the Manning Lodge with a Manning pin, her biography and her back pack.
In her biography it tells how she came about and how her sisters hope to hear from her at every stop.

As far as we know today Sister Cecily has been to:  Grimshaw Lodge #80, Edmonton Lodge # 22, from Edmonton she traveled to Sundre #191 with Lady Cathy Scott. She visited with the ladies then spent the month of July with Lady Scott.
Cecily then traveled to the National Convention in Saskatoon with lady Scott. Lady Scott presented Cecily to the Delgates and told her story. She was introduced to PSHRL Manning who took her home to Newfoundland. Lady Manning then sent her to NB with the DD. We have lost touch with her after that.

So after some phone calls and some emails we have tracked Sister Cecily from Newfoundland to Manitoba where she is currently living with Past Provincial President Pat Olmstead.

**NEWS FLASH** Oct 26/09
Sister Cesily has come home for a short visit.  She hopes to get back on the road really soon.

More News: Oct 19/10

Sister Cecily has been making her miles lately.  We know she sat with our 2010 AB Provincial Pianist, Lady Stacia Steenhart from Drayton Valley, AB.  Those two had such a great time together that Sister Cecily decided she would go and spend some time getting to know her new found friend at her house.  In July Sister Cecily caught a ride with PSHR Brenda Johnston and ABRPA’s Conductress, Lady Cathy Scott to Yellowknife, NWT were they all attended the 2010 Annual Elks and Royal Purple Convention.  From there Sister Cecily got in with Our New 2010-2011, Supreme Associate Royal Lady and her wonderful husband, Sharen and Bill McLean.  To my knowledge Sister Cecily has been keeping company with them at their welcoming home in Calgary, AB.  I have heard, the next trip Sister Cecily is hoping to take will take her to Regina for the Supreme Lodge Meetings in October and then she was talking about leaving there to go to the GREAT WHITE NORTH with our Supreme Loyal Lady Margaret Craigie from Iqaluit, NU

Update: March 28, 2011 Cecily has been to Acme, Pincher Creek, Medicine Hat, Trochu, Crossfield lodges. The following is from her stay at Hanna in Alberta.

A Letter and photos from Sister Cecily dated March 17, 2011

WOW!!!  What an exciting time I have had.  The summer was busy entertaining Grandchildren of the Nolan’s.

Hallowe'en I watched all the little goblins.  November it was Grey Cup so had to watch that and see SHRL Sharen McLean on TV!!!!

Christmas was quiet and now here it is January.  I am going to Prince George Lodge next week and then I am getting ready to fly to Regina with PSHRL Lynda.  I will meet all the National Office staff, The Supreme Executive and many of the National Committee members.  SHRL Sharen will take me from there and bring me to Manning in March.  I am so excited to see my fellow Lodge members and to celebrate our Lodge Anniversary.

Sisterly love,

Cecily

Sending a picture of myself in the chair that most SHRL's in the past seven years sat in at the Nolan's.  The first PSHRL to sit in it was PSHRL Enola Mathieu in 2005.
